Director of Employment and Education

Who we are looking for:

A leader who can build a stellar team while cultivating relationships with community partners to expand our program. You should have a background in program development to help evolve our neurodiversity employment program from the beginning to full compassing. You should have a background in marketing, sales and management to succeed in this position.


A leader who provides support and guidance to the Manager of Education and Outreach while ensuring all mandated policies are upheld. Help navigate the outreach of the education program to deliver growth for a multi-site expansion plan.


Use your incredible networking, outreach, and marketing skills to expand the Education and Employment programs to serve the mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This position manages all employees of the Employment & Education Departments and is responsible for the performance management and, hiring of the employees within that department.
  • Manages organizational development strategies and processes for Employment and Education programs
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to develop sales and marketing strategies.
  • Leads the design, development and implementation of programs, policies and strategies tailored to meet program needs and program goals.
  • Oversees long-range planning for the programming; addresses community needs for additional supports.


  • Increases contacts in the community through active participation in various associations & events.
  • Reviews and analyzes partner and operational records and reports; uses data to project growth, and identify potential new markets.
  • Oversee day to day operation of programs.
  • Maintains all client records and ensures confidentiality in accordance with the Policies and Procedures and the Code of Ethics of The Arc of the Capital Area.
  • Coordinates collaborative efforts with art and other human services agencies in the best interest of the clients and the agency as a whole.

Experience with the  I/DD community

Well versed in technology and database software

Experience in teaching or leading groups a plus

Formal Education and/or four years or great of experience

Have demonstrated leadership skills to include strong decision making, staff development, critical thinking, communication and organizational skills

Staff are currently working from home. The position does require some in office time for filing and billing. Client meetings are currently held on Zoom, but employee may be required to drop paperwork at a client's home if they lack access to technology.
